This view tracks the loan performance after the fact. The loan view recalculates to show the impact of each payment made or missed on the remaining schedule. These results are compared with the intial loan view to produce the Loan Variance report showing how the loan progress has differed from expectations. The clip below shows some of the fields calculated and trackable in this schedule "View". Note that the historical payments have been highlighted automatically in blue (optional) to make it easier to find the manual entries. In this sample, an extra $5,639.39 was included in June 6, 2007 payment, since extra cash was available and no better short-term investment was available paying more than the 5.8% rate on this outstanding loan. The schedule automatically applied the excess to the principal balance, as should the lender.
